My Work

I’m currently the Group Leader of the Bayway Chemical Plant Components I section. The Bayway Chemical Plant is the largest of the Infineum additive manufacturing and blending facilities globally. In Components I, I lead a team that manufactures several additives that are blended into most of the packages Infineum sells in the US and abroad. Since these additives are used throughout Infineum and in many of our formulations, these units must run continuously and reliably to ensure we meet our customers’ needs. We go to great lengths to ensure we maintain the highest quality standards during manufacture.

My Day

There is never a dull moment in a manufacturing environment!  A typical day juggles managing the latest production issue, new project development and design, safety reviews and discussions, constantly changing demand and orders, and leading your team. The highlight of any day is getting to the bottom of a challenging problem that has been hampering your unit and resolving it, usually with a team of people. The sense of accomplishment feels great.

I most enjoy working with great people, having a job that challenges me, having leaders that encourage me to grow, and being recognised for good performance.

My Path

I started with Infineum while I was in college though the Co-Op program. It was a great experience because Infineum allows co-ops to take on important projects and be responsible for them. After graduating, I started as a Process Contact Engineer at Bayway on two units, which became my responsibility to improve, steward performance and ‘own’. It was a great introduction to manufacturing and I learned an incredible amount.

I then took a position as the Blending Process Specialist in the Linden Business & Technology Center. I helped provide support for our blending plants in the Americas, and furnished manufacturing input on the development of new components and new packages. I also was able to interact with our customers and help to solve some of their problems. This allowed me to have a much broader view of Infineum’s business and products. I then became interested in a leadership role that opened up in the Bayway Chemical Plant, which is my current position.

My Take

My colleagues are top notch. There is no competitive atmosphere; we all work together to accomplish the same thing.

Infineum makes an effort to develop colleagues though career moves and training programs.

Benefits and compensation are good; I currently use the educational assistance program to pursue my MBA, which is reimbursed by Infineum.

Opportunities are everywhere and if you have an interest in moving to a particular area, you can get there!

Infineum has a plan for the future and a good strategy to continue its excellent performance.
