What is a Pre-Registration Number?
- It is a means of confirming to the pre-registrant that the pre-registration has been submitted successfully.
- There is no legal requirement to communicate the pre-registration number along the supply chain. Having a pre-registration number does not guarantee future compliance with REACH or continuity of supply. Registration is not a requirement after pre-registration. Not all substances have pre-registration numbers
- They may be exempt from REACH
- They may be manufactured or imported at <1mt
- They may not be phase-in substances
- They may be polymers
- European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) advice is that REACH compliance statements can be effectively communicated at product level.
- European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will not make pre-registration numbers publicly available.
Infineum Position
As the pre-registration numbers add no value in the supply chain, Infineum will not release them other than to Competent Authorities or enforcement agencies for compliance auditing.
