At the September 30 and October 1 ILSAC/Oil meetings, new proposals were submitted by both sides but no agreement was reached. ILSAC issued a further version on October 5th with tightened Sequence IIIG WPD and Sequence VID XW-20 limits. The trade associations will now reconsider their positions in an effort to seek agreement on the final specification.
Jeff Jetter, Honda R&D Americas, affirms that SAE 0W-20 oils will be the exclusive recommendation for essentially all Honda vehicles in the coming years and will also be approved retroactively for certain model years back to 2001. Update #7, September 2009
