In a commitment to promoting a healthy work-life balance and fostering a strong sense of community among our employees, our team in Singapore recently organised a 12km walk at Pulau Ubin, one of Singapore’s last rural villages with one of the country’s richest ecosystems. The event, organised by the Office Safety sub-committee (OSSC), marked the culmination of a year-long series of walks aimed at enhancing both physical and mental well-being.
Nearly 60 employees from diverse functions gathered for the scenic trek. Pulau Ubin, known for its diverse landscapes and ecological richness, provided the perfect backdrop for colleagues to connect with nature while engaging in meaningful physical activity.
Pang Lin Ong, a member of the OSSC and one of the organisers, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, saying, "It’s very encouraging to see so many colleagues join us for the walk in Pulau Ubin! Health is one of the most important factors for an effective and productive workforce. Walking is a low-risk, low-impact exercise that any one of us can easily do - anytime, anywhere. The OSSC physical activities committee planned walks starting from 4km to 8km and finally, this 12km walk to help build up people’s stamina. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and more importantly, will carry on doing more walks to keep ourselves healthy." "
The initiative not only focused on physical health but also at providing a platform for employees to mingle and network across different functions within the organisation. The OSSC's commitment to employee well-being was evident in the thoughtful planning of the walks throughout the year, with the Pulau Ubin trek serving as a grand finale.
Muhammad Muhaimin, a Field Testing Coordinator who participated in the event commented: "The Ubin trip provided everyone with a good break, allowing us to disconnect from the office and enjoy the great scenery with landscapes and terrains that accommodated all levels of fitness. Events like these help to reduce stress and improve overall morale. It was remarkably planned and I felt it was definitely a success, thanks to the OSSC."
