PC-10 will bring a new set of challenges over those in the API PC-9/CI-4
category for heavy duty diesel OEMs, lubricant marketers and additive companies.
Federal Tier III emissions legislation, set to take effect between 2007
and 2010, will reduce emissions of substances considered harmful to health
and the environment. To meet these stringent requirements, OEMs will need
to employ advanced engineering solutions and aftertreatment devices. Because
these have an important bearing on formulation needs of HD diesel lubricants,
PC-10 is expected to have a significant cost impact, adding as much as 20%
to the total cost of new engine oils.
Infineum is well positioned to extend our already strong diesel lubricant
technology to meet the many challenges and opportunities of this new category.
We are flexible to manage rapid changes that are likely to occur... and
we'll be ready with lubricant solutions well in advance of need to deliver
a solid competitive advantage to our customers.
