Infineum Expands Viscosity Modifier Product Offerings

Infineum International announced that the Infineum Group of Companies has introduced a new series of viscosity modifiers (VMs) for automotive lubricants. Based on ethylene-propylene olefin co-polymer (OCP) chemistry, the Infineum V8000 Series will initially be made available for passenger car and heavy-duty diesel motor oil applications. VMs in this series for other applications will follow.

The new OCP series complements the company's current offering of hydrogenated polyisoprene-based VMs, designated Infineum SV (currently branded as Shellvis). Infineum's portfolio of VM products will have shear stability indexes ranging from 0 SSI to 59 SSI. "Available as both solid polymers and concentrates, the combined series will allow greater customer choice for product differentiation," commented Dave Duxbury, Business Manager - Viscosity Modifiers.

According to Duxbury, "With the addition of this OCP family, Infineum will now offer the broadest VM product slate of any lubricant additive producer."
