Chevron Fuel & Marine Marketing and Infineum sign agreement for the global supply and marketing of fuel additives to the marine industry

Infineum, known for many years as a major global supplier of marine lubricant additives, moved in a new direction when it entered into an agreement with Chevron Fuel and Marine Marketing. With recent developments in distillate and residual fuel additive technologies, Infineum was anxious to establish an alliance with a trusted name that the industry could rely on. Chevron Fuel and Marine Marketing came to the front. Their stringent product testing standards provide the vessel operator that extra level of assurance and reliability. In addition, Chevron's global supply capability ensures product availability, with their extensive line of lubricants, cooling water treatments and fuels at hundreds of ports around the world.

Vince Kyle, General Manager Marine Lubricant Sales at Chevron, commented, "A range of modern, effective fuel additives is an ideal complement to our marine lubricants product line which also includes a full range of marine fuels and cooling water treatments. We develop close relationships with our customers' technical departments and are often asked for advice on fuel-related matters. Now being able to offer a solution for fuels treatment is an exciting development. Infineum's expertise in the additives business combined with Chevron's experience of fuels and lubricants has enabled us to develop a product range just right for today's conditions in the shipping industry."

Chevron Fuel & Marine Marketing's first product launch comprises a combustion improver for use in residual fuels based on an innovative proprietary technology that boosts fuel ignition, exhaust deposit control and smoke reduction in a safer, user-friendly package. The second product is an anti-lacquering additive for use in distillate fuels that helps resolve issues associated with using low sulphur distillate in medium-speed propulsion and auxiliary engines.

Greg Hitchings, Infineum's Marine Development Manager said, "Infineum is very pleased to work with Chevron Fuel & Marine Marketing to establish a new robust face to the use of marine fuel additives in the industry. With the acceleration of change in both fuels and vessel technologies, together with the industry focus on environmental improvement, it is timely in allowing vessel operators to take advantage of the benefits offered by quality fuel additives."
