Powerful locomotive engines are constantly being driven to new levels of endurance. To help prevent destructive wear and ensure their performance under even the most gruelling conditions, Infineum offers the strength of its locomotive lubricant additives. These are the only additives of their kind based on salicylate detergent chemistry. Our exclusive, zinc free additive technology has demonstrated superior engine cleaning capabilities than other technologies. In rigorous testing and actual use, it has demonstrated the ability to reduce the top deck sludge and piston deposits that can lead to serious wear.

Performance claims and drivers

Modern locomotive engines have evolved to meet the changing requirements of an increasingly competitive business environment. Changes in operating severity, particularly extended oil drain intervals, require the use of modern high performance lubricants to achieve optimal engine performance. The quality levels of locomotive lubricants are defined by the Locomotive Maintenance Officer’s Association (LMOA) and by General Electric, and have evolved to meet the changing lubricant requirements of modern engine hardware.

Our locomotive diesel additives meet the highest quality levels, LMOA Generation 5 and GE Generation 4 Long Life, at both 13 and 17 TBN treat rates. Infineum additive packages are approved in multiple base stocks with a range of approved viscosity modifiers.
