Premium heating oil additives

Premium heating oil additives are intended to allow product differentiation by the provision of additional technical features that can improve the quality of heating fuels in line with the requirements of end users. These fuels are typically not sold at service stations but distributed direct to the end-user. Additives may be added to the fuel at the distribution terminal or directly from the tanker at delivery.

Infineum offers multifunctional heating oil additives, Infineum F series), which can be formulated to provide the following features:

• Improved Combustibility
  Combustion improvers have been shown to reduce the rate of flue gas temperature increase (boiler efficiency) and reduce smoke emissions.
  
  
• Odour Masking
  Heating oil can often contain a high proportion of cracked components that give the fuel an unpleasant odour. Odour masks/reodorants are able to suppress the smell of the fuel.
  
  
• Improved Cold Weather Operability
  Premium heating oil additive is typically used to upgrade fuel which has already been treated with flow improvers at a refinery. Packages normally contain Wax Anti-settling Flow Improver and offer:
  
  
  
  • Improved Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP).
  • Improved Simulated Filter Plugging Point (SFPP).
  • Reduced wax settling.
    
    
• Improved Oxidative Stability
  Increasing amounts of cracked fuel components are being put into the heating oil pool, and consequently thermal and oxidative degradation of heating oil is an increasing problem. Heating oil fuel stabiliser systems can help prevent fuel darkening, decrease deposits and reduce filter and pump blockages.
  
  
• Antirust
  The fuel distribution system is susceptible to corrosion from water that may be present in the fuel. Antirust additives help reduce rust formation in fuel storage and delivery systems. This results in reduced maintenance of pipes and tanks and reduced risk of filter blocking due to rust deposits.
