Dewaxing aids

Dewaxing aids offer advantages in the dewaxing of residual lubricant feed stocks to facilitate base oil manufacture. The additives are absorbed onto the wax crystals as they grow, modifying their shape and making them easier to filter. Advantages include:

• Increased oil yield
• Increased plant capacity without installing more filters
• Lower oil content of the slack wax
• Overcoming bottlenecks in chillers, solvent recovery systems, etc.

Infineum Dewaxing Aids have been shown to be effective in a range of dewaxing processes including:

• Ketone and Propane dewaxing systems

Infineum has full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for the incorporation of Ketone dewaxing aids into food applications.

Crude and heavy fuel flow improvers

The addition of suitable wax crystal modifiers to waxy crude oils improves their fluidity so they can be transported by pipeline at temperatures below their natural pour points.

Additives which modify wax crystal structures within crude oils are also capable of modifying the crystal structures which form within residual fuel oils. It is therefore possible to use the same additives as pour point depressants within residual fuel oils.

This reduces or eliminates the need to use more valuable streams as diluents.

Infineum markets an effective range of additives, Infineum R series, which are both:

• Pour point depressants for light and heavy fuel oils, used for transportation of the fuel.
• Flow improvers for waxy crude oils, used at the well-head and for fuel transportation.
