In line with our sustainability approach our Team in Linden, USA, joined local environmental groups for a day, to improve the landscape and help to conserve wildlife in their area.
Named the Blue Acres Cleanup initiative, the team replanted 66 trees and cleared 146 trees.
Linden’s Environmental Team were responsible for the organisation and coordination of the day, they invited the local groups to take part. Members of the team included colleagues as well as, individuals from Phillips 66, the other refinery company which Infineum shares a site with, the City of Linden municipality, Groundwork Elizabeth, Conserve Wildlife , and community volunteers.
At midday, the team of volunteers took a break. They ate pizza and watched presentations from Conserve Wildlife Executive Director, Liz Silvernail, and Team Youth Leader at Groundwork Elizabeth, Lucy Crespo Green. The Mayor of Linden, Derek Armstead, also greeted the volunteers and shared the history and his personal connection to the area.
The day was a great success, as Kevin Parker, Sustainability Data Specialist explains, “It was a great day to be outdoors and support the local community, it was awesome seeing the transformation of the space and knowing it benefited the environment.”
The Infineum team used their "volunteering day" to run this environmental activity. The volunteering day is a benefit that Infineum offers to every employee globally that consists of an extra day of annual leave that can be used to support their community.Back to top
