Throughout May, Infineum colleagues demonstrated their compassion and generosity by donating $690,000 to a wide range of charities around the world.
Covid-19 has caused extraordinary global disruption, with the charitable sector hit especially hard. Many charities are having to deliver additional services, to the most vulnerable in society, with fewer volunteers and staff members, at a time when traditional fundraising activities are simply not an option. This series of articles highlights how Infineum colleagues support their local communities and make a real difference to the quality of people’s lives.
When the coronavirus outbreak hit, Infineum colleagues in Zhangjiagang adapted their community programme for local children in difficulties, to help the children stay safe during this pandemic.
The community programme, first initiated by Infineum Zhangjiagang colleagues in 2019, aims to help the children discover interests and hobbies and encouraged a healthy and optimistic attitude. This year’s programme was due to kick off with an event after Chinese New Year, but had to be postponed because of the pandemic.
When the children returned to school in April amidst Covid-19, colleagues decided to help protect them by donating parcels of hand sanitiser gel, alcohol wipes and gloves to 30 students and their families. A letter was also enclosed in each parcel, encouraging the children to keep up their spirits during this difficult time, as well as sending their best wishes.
Local community workers helped by distributing the parcels as pictured. Infineum colleagues are very much looking forward to seeing their “little friends” for future fun activities when the time is right and the pandemic is under control.
