The Engineering R&D Manager is a global position, managing the engineering and field trial aspects of Infineum’s research into market leading lubricants for current and emerging automotive and marine engine technology. The Enabling Engineering team develops new engineering tools for researching and certifying new engine lubricants, provides expert engineering support internally to an extenisive Lubes R&D department and collaborates externally with third party engineering test houses, commercial fleets, and vehicle & engine parts manufacturers. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are resourced with appropriate skills and are delivered effectively. What will you be doing
  • Manage a team of ~20 colleagues spread over at least 4 global locations including recruitment, general colleague support, development and appraisals.
  • Accountable for building Engineering as a core strength and differentiator supporting Infineum’s technology leadership strategy. Assimilate needs from current and future technical challenges to advise future strategy on a 5 year horizon in partnership with appropriate Lubes Marketing & Technology strategy teams.

  • Accountable for safety, not just internally but at other locations where Infineum work is carried out.

  • Integrate activities where projects are led by other technical teams but success requires significant engineering support both internally and/or with an external test provider.

  • Ensure Infineum has access to effective methods for measuring lubricant performance including developing new methods and oversight of large external contracts at 3rd party engine testing institutues.

  • Define how resources can be used to optimally achieve success, maximise return from the operational budget and make proposals for alternative funding approaches.
