In general, this position is responsible for managing the process safety and risk assessment programs for a large manufacturing facility, including compliance with all pertinent State and Federal regulations.

Key Outputs: What we can expect from you
  • Responsible for Bayway Chemical Plant process safety analyses, reviews and corrective recommendations, and compliance with pertinent NJ State (Toxic Catastrophe Prevention Act) and Federal (OSHA Process Safety Management and Risk Management Program) Regulations
  • Conduct / Lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments
  • Review process designs and management of change requests to ensure compliance with safety engineering standards
  • Develop dispersion analyses to evaluate consequence and assess risk due to potential HC and EHS substance releases 
  • Interact with Government agencies during site inspections and emergencies
  • Prepare reports to agencies, as required by regulations
  • Support process and project engineers and unit supervisors on process safety issues, including recommendation of options to prevent incidents or reduce risk identified in process hazard analyses or resulting from compliance audit follow ups
  • Analysis of process safety and risk regulations (state and federal) and development of site compliance plans
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations including successful performance on audits
  • Model emergency release scenarios and assist in emergency response planning
  • Any additional responsibilities as assigned
A successful candidate is likely to have:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Chemical strongly preferred but not required)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Process Design or Engineering, preferably in manufacturing sites
  • Experience with risk assessments
  • Process simulation and dispersion modelling software knowledge a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
