The tightening of emissions targets set out by government legislature means that engine design is continuously evolving and consequently the lubricants that we use in our engines need to evolve as well.  Infineum is one of the world’s leading formulators, manufacturers and marketers of fuel and lubricant additives and they have a key role to play in improving the fuel efficiency of tomorrow’s engines. 
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced synthetic chemist to join the Component Delivery Team to help design the lubricant additives of tomorrow. Our Chemist roles are diverse, engaging and challenging, with the possibility to choose the path that’s right for you. Use your knowledge to take on a range of technical challenges and make a meaningful contribution to the business through the development of new additives.
This role will suit a candidate with a real passion for synthetic organic chemistry and/or polymer chemistry with significant hands-on lab experience within industry.

What the role entails:

Working as part of a dedicated team the role will primarily focus on developing and applying organic and/or polymer synthetic capabilities to design, synthesise and analyse novel compounds aimed at solving key challenges, both current and future, within the field of lubricant additive technology. Additionally, we encourage our employees to broaden their skill set by undertaking roles in safety, quality, inclusivity and outreach.

The applicant will ideally have:

Significant experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or polymer synthesis
• The capability to accurately interpret technical information, manipulate data and maintain comprehensive records of laboratory activities
• Enthusiasm to pursue wider responsibilities within the group (e.g. safety, quality, inclusivity etc…) in order to progress their personal development.
