Here at Infineum, diversity is a core value that enriches our workplace and drives innovation, and our employees joined together to run an educational workshop for schoolchildren living in Japan to increase their awareness of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The workshop, now in its third year, gives children the unique opportunity to learn about diversity in ‘real life’ and with Japan being a homogeneous country where people rarely encounter other cultures, children benefit greatly from this initiative.
Employees from Japan, Singapore, China, the US, and South Korea, took part in the workshop, immersing the children in the Infineum working environment. They experienced interacting with people from different time zones, and cultures, during online learning sessions. Most importantly, they saw how diversity can be a strength and how having different ways of thinking, living, and working helps to generate new ideas.
Employees used their ‘volunteer day’ to run the workshop as Infineum offers this benefit to every employee globally – an extra day of annual leave to support their community. It’s part of our Sustainability approach, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Supporting people and communities).
