The #InfineumCARES monthly series spotlights the volunteering efforts of colleagues from our sites around the world, as part of our ambition of supporting people and communities.
In commemoration of the recent World Environment Day, our India site organised a volunteering day for colleagues. The initiative saw the team planting trees at SES Secondary School, a local school in Belavali, Panvel.
Located about 40 km outside Mumbai, this small rural school serves around 100 students aged 13 to 15, taught by five teachers.
Working in pairs, the Infineum team spent a fulfilling afternoon planting more than 40 tropical trees along the school’s boundary, including mango, guava, gulmohar, cashew and jamun.
With the goal of having full-grown trees in the coming years, the initiative hopes to improve air quality and provide shade during the summer for students and teachers.
The team also aimed to inspire schoolchildren to care for the growing trees and develop a sense of responsibility toward environmental conservation.
Harshad Jambaulikar, India General Manager, says “I believe volunteering is about promoting the causes we care deeply about in both spirit and practice. This tree-planting initiative was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our care for the environment, support others in our surrounding community, as well as bond with one another.”
