As part of our commitment to sustainability, which includes inspiring young minds to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), our team in Singapore recently collaborated with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in the city to share their career stories and insights with students. The aim was to help them make informed choices about their future paths and encourage their interest in STEM fields.
Nanyang Polytechnic is renowned for its science programme, where students are faced with the crucial decision of specialising in diploma subjects across the fields of Pharmaceutical, Food Science, and Chemicals. To support these students in their decision-making process, Huai Hui, Team Leader, and Teck Yong, Technologist, took centre stage to share their personal career journeys.
Huai Hui and Teck Yong’s presentations not only provided valuable insights into their professional experiences but also shed light on Infineum’s core values, known as CARES – Customer Focus, Ambition, Respect for people and the environment, Ethics, and Safety. By showcasing these values in action, they highlighted how we care about having a positive impact on our customers, employees and communities where we operate while prioritising safety in all aspects of our operations.
Moreover, Huai Hui and Teck Yong explained how as an organisation we inspire women in STEM, recognising the importance of gender diversity and striving to create an inclusive environment that empowers women to excel.
“The Infineum team delivered a clear and well-thought-out presentation, that will undoubtedly help our students make a well-informed decision about which diploma route to take next.” Jeffrey Cheng, Dy Manager, School of Applied Science.
Reuben Tan, Sales Account Manager, said: “I would like to thank all the colleagues involved for taking time out of their busy schedules to organize and deliver this impactful event. By sharing our experiences, values, and insights, we aim to inspire young individuals to pursue their passions and make a positive impact on society through science and innovation. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with educational institutions like Nanyang Polytechnic to foster the growth and development of future STEM leaders.”
The Singapore Team made use of their “volunteering day” to support Nanyang Polytechnic’s students.
The volunteering day is a benefit offered to every Infineum employee globally and consists of an extra day of annual leave that can be used to support their community. It is part of our Sustainability approach and helps us deliver on the UN sustainability goal 3 in supporting people and communities.
