Disconnecting from devices for 15 minutes helps reduce stress and improve focus.
Infineum Singapore site recently introduced a new programme ‘Disconnect-to-Connect’, to encourage colleagues to disconnect from devices and connect with their breathing.
The sessions are about 15 minutes, usually starting with gentle stretching to ease the body into a state of relaxation. Colleagues then settle down into ergonomic chairs for a guided meditation session, enriched by a variety of monthly themes.
The benefits of meditation are well-documented, with research highlighting its effectiveness in reducing stress, managing anxiety, and enhancing mood. Our colleagues’ experiences resonate with these findings. Regularly attending the sessions reduced their stress levels and helped improved focus. The serenity and improved resilience they’ve gained not only enhance personal wellbeing but also align with our commitment to safety in the workplace.
From a global perspective, Salima Shariff, VP of HR, shares how she’s benefited from meditation: “Integrating meditation into my daily routine has been life-enhancing. It’s a practice that fosters introspection and grants my mind the rest it deserves, contributing to a happier, more balanced life.”
A piece of advice from Salima: Start with short sessions – even 5 minutes – and explore techniques like mindfulness, loving-kindness, or focused breathing. Building these into your day can have a profound impact on your overall wellbeing.
