Subcontractor Fatality at Bayway

At Infineum, one of our goals is to maintain a safe workplace, to ensure that workplace hazards are eliminated or mitigated, and to ensure that each individual working at our site is trained to perform his or her daily duties safely. Sadly, there are times when something happens, and unfortunately, that is the case today. Our hearts are heavy with the news that we must deliver to you at this time about the loss of life at our facility.

The incident happened at approximately 1:30 PM, Monday, January 19th, 2026.

At the time of the incident, the worker was loading a bulk liquid container. As of Tuesday, January 20, 2026, we can confirm that the body of the deceased individual was found inside the container and recovered by on-site personnel and the Linden Fire Department.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The location of this event is commonly known as the Bayway Chemical Plant.

The address is Corner of Park and Brunswick Avenues, Linden, NJ 07036.

This facility is used as a lubricant additive production facility.

We can confirm there is one fatality.

With respect to the previously mentioned loss of life, we understand the individual who has died will be identified to the public by the authorities, once their next of kin have been notified.

This individual worked as a sub-contractor.

The January 20th police report from the Linden Police Department says the individual was 71 years old.

We extend our deepest sympathy to those who have lost a family member or friend.

We have requested assistance from the Linden Police Department and the Linden Fire Department.

We will cooperate with all agencies in their investigations.

We would like to thank all of the people who responded from law enforcement and the fire department.

We will conduct our own investigation to determine exactly what happened, why it happened, and how we can keep this from happening again.
