Several colleagues from our Milton Hill site spent their volunteering day at SOFEA, a UK-based social enterprise tackling food insecurity and food waste, where they repackaged surplus food products for local charity organisations to be distributed to those in need.
The volunteering day is a benefit offered to every Infineum employee that allowed them to dedicate an extra day of annual leave to support their community.
Colin Lewis, Statistician, along with Ilona Ziabska and Virginija Statkute, Technologists, supported the picking and packing of fresh and dry food products at the warehouse. Under the guidance of warehouse staff, they packed the corresponding products into crates, before moving them to the delivery bay or refrigeration ready for distribution. These food products had been donated by local supermarkets throughout UK.
By the afternoon, the colleague volunteers were able to independently pick and pack orders. They worked together to fulfil a large request for 80 jars of lemon curd, 30 boxes of multi-vitamins, and 25 packs of yogurt.
Reflecting on his volunteering experience with SOFEA, Colin Lewis, Statistician, says “We were very glad to support a key part of the warehouse operations. I am proud that Infineum supports meaningful volunteering activities like this, with my volunteering day made extra meaningful as it took place on the 25th anniversary of the day that I started working for Infineum!”
Infineum actively encourages our colleagues to give back to their local communities through volunteering. For more information about Infineum’s sustainability initiatives, please visit: https://www.infineum.com/sustainability/.
